英語のテストは試される力が何なのかと、どのように試されるのかがわからないと対策のしようがありません。今回はあまり知られていないVERSANTが測っている力とスコアアップのコツについてお話します。（「[VERSANTテストの特徴](https://www.smarthabit.net/enterprise/blog/english00091)」の記事はこちら） まずスコアシートを見てみましょう。測られている4つの力「文章構文」「語彙」「流暢さ」「発音」は「文章構文」と「流暢さ」が30％の配点、「語彙」と「発音」が20％の配点です。流暢さは配点が高いうえ、VERSANT Speaking Testは自動採点です。つまりコンマ何秒というところまで発話における間(ま)を認識されるわけですから、流暢さを意識した発話をすることがかなり重要なことがわかるでしょう。 ※総合評価は80点満点ですが、実はスキルエリアの「文章構文」「語彙」「流暢さ」「発音」は80点以上の内部スコアを持っている場合があります（その場合も80点と表記）。下記のスコアシートを見ると、流暢さと発音が80点に到達していないのに総合点が80点なのは、文章構文と語彙において80点以上を内部スコアとして持っているからなのです。 Dの単語並べ替え問題が苦手ということです。主語になりうるフレーズがどれかを考えて「誰(何)がどうした」の情報から瞬時に言うように訓練しましょう。この単語並べ替えは模試での練習が一番良いですが、それに飽きたら例えばインターネット上の英語記事の文を印刷し、複数の単語ずつにハサミで切って自分で並べ替えをして練習してもいいでしょう。飽きずに「誰(何)がどうした」の情報を並べ替える訓練が続けられれば「文章構文」のスコアは上げやすいです。   「語彙」 「語彙」のスコアが低いということはPart Cの一問一答が弱いということです。普段ビジネス英語しか勉強していないとPart Cには慣れていないと思います。   「1ダースの鉛筆から2本取ったら残りは何本ですか」といった小学生向けの算数のような質問が出ることもありますので、このようなクイズの問題形式に慣れて単語を覚える必要があります。「鍋を温めるのに使うのはコンロですか、冷蔵庫ですか」といった質問など、日常生活で使う身のまわりのものの名前を言わなければならない問題もありますので、家の中にある物の名前は一通り覚えておくとよいでしょう。模試をたくさん解いて単語を覚えていくか、部屋のものに一つずつラベルを付けていき覚える、といった地道な作業が必要です。   「流暢さ」と「発音」 流暢さと発音はテスト全体を通して大切です。とにかく間(ま)を作らないこと、そしてできるだけアメリカ英語に寄せて話すように努力しましょう。   アメリカ英語はoの発音はオではなくてアの発音です（officeはアーフィス）。また、あいまい母音のシュワも頻出です。辞書の発音記号で見かける逆さまのeがシュワ⟨ə⟩です。日本人は母音の間違いが非常に多いのですが、多くがこのシュワを正しく言えていないことに起因します。お手本をよく聞いて真似しましょう。例えば日本人はよく-tionの音をションと発音しますが、アメリカ英語の発音記号はシュワが入ったshənです。日本語ではシュンのような音が正しいです。こういった今までの思い込みを正していくことがスコアアップにつながります。発音判定ソフトウェア等を活用して悪い癖を直していきましょう。 日頃から英語を聞いたら真似して言うことがVERSANTのスコアアップの大きなカギです。英語の授業で行ったrepeatingは語学学習の基本中の基本です。この作業をコツコツとやっていきましょう。Part Aの音読、Part Bの復唱、Part Eの話の要約（長文復唱のようなもの）のすべてにおいて日頃の音真似が役立ちます。3つのセクションでスコアアップできれば、当然総合スコアもアップできます。 日本の教育でないがしろにされてきた発音と流暢さに重点をおくVERSANT Speaking Test。このテストでスコアが上がると、あなたの話す英語を聞く相手の負担がかなり軽減されます。より良好なコミュニケーションのために、地道な練習をコツコツと積み重ねましょう。
